Box Score FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team picked up its first victory in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play with a thrilling 5-4 victory over Davenport on Friday afternoon at Wildwood Racquet Club.
Mikel Oscoz won the clinching victory with a three-set thriller at three singles, winning 7-5, 5-7, 6-3 over Haja Denise in the final match of the evening.
Fernando Sousa and
Nicholas Aguirre would also pick up wins in singles action, with the former winning 6-3, 6-1 at two doubles and the latter earning a 6-4, 6-2 decision at the four position.
Aguirre and
Joaquin Ferrando would cruise to an 8-3 win at two doubles while
Kino de Leon and
Rui Lima's 8-4 victory at three doubles gave the Warriors a crucial 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
Tech (4-4, 1-0 WHAC) continues its busy weekend on Saturday with a visit from Cornerstone. Match time is set for 12 p.m. from Wildwood Racquet Club.
