MARION, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball fell in its nonconference finale to Indiana Wesleyan, 5-3, on Tuesday evening at Wildcat Field.
Steve Remesnik went 1-3 with a double and an RBI while
Charlie Sipe and
Tighe Koehring also picking up RBI's.
Mark Carpenter and
Glen McClain each drew a walk with the former swiping two bases. Sipe would also steal a bag as Tech stole six times in all.
Tyler Wells took the loss after going 5.2 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks while striking out three.
The Wildcats would strike first after getting a leadoff triple in their first at-bat of the game and then pushing the leadoff batter across the plate off a sacrifice fly to left two batters later. A two-out single in the third would then push the second Indiana Wesleyan run across the board.
Koehring would drive in
Kyle Mead with a sacrifice fly to center in the fourth to cut the deficit to one, but the Wildcats would tack on another run in the sixth to make it a 3-1 ballgame.
Remesnik's double in the seventh and an RBI single from Carpenter in the eighth would bring the Orange and Black to within a run each inning, but the Wildcats would come back with runs of their own in the bottom of each frame to come away with the 5-3 win.
Tech (26-12) returns to action on Saturday when they start a four-game set with Madonna in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Warrior Stadium and links to live video, audio and stats can be found at IndianaTechWarriors.com.
