Warriors Fall to Panthers in NWLL First Round

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The fifth-seeded Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to fourth-seed Davenport, 12-9, on Thursday night in the first round of the National Women's Lacrosse League (NWLL) at DU Turf Field.

The Panthers controlled the action early as they score four goals in the first 13 minutes of the game. Winter would put the Orange and Black on the board at the 16:34 mark off the feed from Dakota Dawson, sparking five goals from the visitors over the next six minutes to take a 5-4 lead with just over 10 minutes to go in the first half.

Davenport took the momentum into the half though, scoring twice in the last 52 seconds to take a 6-5 lead into the break. Tech would counter quickly in the second half with a goal from Campbell just 52 seconds into the half while Price added a goal 11 seconds later put the Warriors up 7-6 with 28:57 to go.

Tech would suffer a major blow at the 27:50 mark when NWLL Player of the Year and First-Team All-American Vikstrom was called for her second yellow card, disqualifying her from the rest of the game, and the Panthers took an advantage quickly with a man advantage goal at 26:46 to tie the game at seven.

DU would score three more goals over the next 15 minutes to take a 10-7 lead into the final 10 minutes of play, but the Warriors would not go quietly into the night, with Winter and Scott scoring just 26 seconds apart to pull the Orange and Black within a goal.

The Panthers would recover quickly with a man-advantage goal at 4:05 to go up 11-9 and added an insurance goal to win 12-9.
