DETROIT – The Indiana Tech volleyball team got back in the win column on Wednesday evening with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-18) win over Marygrove in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action at the Northwest Activities Center.
Jordan Alyward had a game-high seven kills for the Warriors while
Cassie Sarabia had six kills and 12 digs.
Gabby Staggs also had six kills and a game-high four blocks.
Taylor Kelso added 23 digs while
Brandi Huesman had three service aces.
Karli Jones dished out a team-high 13 assists while
Autumn Stokes added 12.
After a battle through the first 19 points of the first set, Tech would go on a 7-1 run to take a 16-11 lead and closed out the set with a 7-0 spurt to go up 1-0.
The Warriors would jump out to a 14-5 lead in the second set, with Huesman dishing out three consecutive service aces at one point as the visitors would use a 7-0 run. Marygrove would closed the gap to 17-15, but a block and a kill from Staggs sparked a 8-0 run to win the set and go up 2-0.
Trailing 10-8 in the third, the Orange and Black went on a 9-2 run and then closed out the sweep with a 5-0 run.
Tech (10-5, 4-1 WHAC) returns to action on Friday with the Davenport Panther Invitational, where they are set to take on Saint Xavier (Ill.) at 1 p.m. and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) at 5:30 p.m. from the DU Student Center.
