Box Score UPLAND, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team proved dominant in a 9-0 clean sweep victory over Taylor University at Meier Tennis Courts on Saturday in part with their fall opener for their 2016-17 season campaign.
The Warriors cruised through doubles action with the one doubles tandem of
Fernando Sousa and
Mikel Oscoz fighting for the 9-7 decision while at the two spot, Joaquin Fernando and Nicolas Aguirre came out with the 8-4 victory.
Singles play reflected much of the dominance from doubles with each of the six seeds not dropping a set to their opponents. Leading the way for the Orange and Black, at one singles, Fernando topped Trojan Juan Ramirez, 6-3, 6-4. Coming in just short of the double-bagel at the two seed, Sousa finished out Stephen All, 6-1, 6-0.
Tech (1-0) will be back in action on Friday with a nonconference match against neighboring Huntington University at Klopfenstein Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.
