FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 20-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team improved its modest win streak to three games as they defeated University of Michigan-Dearborn, 81-46, on Wednesday evening at the Schaefer Center.
Haley Cook scored a game-high 20 points, dished out a game-high five assists and grabbed four rebounds while
Taylor Seiss added 14 points and four assists.
Baylee Rinehart chipped in 14 points off the bench,
Keanna Gary added nine points and six rebounds and
Kendall Knapke had eight points, two rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
The Wolverines would challenge the Warriors early as they got out to a 13-5 lead just over five minutes into the game and extend their lead to as much as seven points early in the second quarter. Tech would regroup in the last five minutes of the first half though as they used a 14-0 run to end the half, with three straight three-pointers from Knapke, Cook and Rinehart to take a 35-25 lead into the locker room.
The Warriors would open the second half on a 10-0 spurt to make it a 45-25 game with seven minutes left in the third quarter, capped by back-to-back triples from Cook. The Orange and Black would continue to showcase their offensive prowess while flexing their defensive muscles as they closed the period on a 20-7 run to take a 65-32 lead into the final 10 minutes of play, increasing their lead to as much as 38 in the fourth quarter as they cruised to the victory.
Tech (16-6, 11-4 WHAC) is back in action on Saturday as they host Lourdes on Alumni Day. Opening tip is set for 1 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
