ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team found itself on the wrong end of an overtime thriller as they lost to Siena Heights, 3-2, on Wednesday evening at O'Laughlin Stadium.
In one of the more unique games all season, which saw three of the five goals scored via penalty kicks, the Warriors would take the lead right out of the gate as
Tori Singstock drove one into the net from 25 yards out to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
The Saints would come out of the half with a quick strike, tying the game up a 1-1 just 110 seconds into the half with the first penalty kick of the night. Singstock would draw a foul in the box and step up to the line and blast it home for her 10
th goal of the year, and 64
th of her career, as she gave Tech the 2-1 lead in the 51
st minute.
Siena Heights would control the pace through the rest of regulation, firing off seven shots on frame against
Chloe Parker, making her first start in conference action, stopping all but one as the hosts notched the equalizer in the 76
th minute.
Each team would fire off a quick shot on frame just two minutes into the overtime session that would be denied by both keepers, but the Saints Emily Burkman converted the second penalty kick of the night for the hosts as she won the game in the 94
th minute.
Parker finished the contest with 11 saves. Singstock now sits just two goals behind former standout Kara Walker for the most goals in school history, who scored 66 from 2002-05.
Tech (7-6-1, 4-2-1 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they take on Aquinas on the road. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. from the Aquinas College Athletic Field.
