GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team fell to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) rival Aquinas College, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon at Aquinas College Athletic Field.
The host Saints would strike first, taking the 1-0 lead in the 29
th minute off the foot of Morgan Halligan, who took the pass from Madi Grit inside the box and beat
Chloe Parker to her left. Tech would answer back shortly after with the equalizer from
Shelby Lucas in the 33
rd minute after
Kayla Saffran crossed it to her in the box.
Heading into the second half of action, it would be Aquinas who would break the 1-1 tie as Grit put the hosts up 2-1 in the 60
th minute with a one-tough shot past Parker. The Warriors would be stifled by the Saints defense over the last 30 minutes, holding Tech off to just one shot on goal to end the game and send the visitors to their third consecutive loss.
The Orange and Black (7-6-1, 4-2-1 WHAC) will return home as they host Madonna in their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday at Warrior Athletic Field with game time set for 7 p.m. Wednesday night's game will serve as the Warriors "Crush Hunger" game and the team will be collecting donations of canned good at the gate in lieu of admission.
