Warriors Tame Tigers for Fourth Straight Win

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated Olivet Nazarene, 78-63, on Friday evening in nonconference action at McHie Arena, for their fourth straight win.
 
Max Huber led the Warriors with a career-high 31 points, going 11-13 from the field and 5-7 from three-point range, while grabbing six rebounds. Dylan Phair would add 17 points and five assists while Scott Schwieterman chipped in 11 points, four rebounds and three assists.
 
Tech would take the first lead of the game with a basket from Schwieterman to open the contest, but the Tigers would score the next six points and force a pair of turnovers to take a 6-2 lead. Olivet Nazarene would increase their lead to five points at the 9:36 mark in the first half with a 16-11 lead, but eight straight points from Huber would give the visitors a 22-18 advantage with 5:50 until the half.
 
The Tigers would battle back to tie the game up at 30-30 at the 2:21 mark with as Luke Tuttle scored 10 straight points, including back-to-back three-pointers, but the Orange and Black would close the half on an 8-3 run, including a 6-0 spurt from Phair, to enter the locker room leading 38-33.
 
After Phair scored the first possession of the second half, the hosts would rattle off nine straight points to retake the lead at 41-40 with 15:16 left in the game. Huber would then go on a 5-0 run to give the lead back to the Warriors while Phair knocked down a jumper to make it a 47-41 game with just over 13 minutes to play.
 
The Tigers would cut the deficit down to two twice over the next four minutes, but Tech would answer each ONU run with one of their own and put the nail in the coffin with a 12-0 spurt in the final five minutes of action with Huber making it a 16-point game at the 2:02 mark with an old-fashioned three-point play to help the Warriors close out the 78-63 win.
 
Tech (4-0) returns to action on Wednesday, November 15 as they open up their home slate and Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play against Madonna. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
