FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Lawrence Tech, 4-0, on Friday evening at the SportONE/Parkview Ice House, rebounding from a shootout loss in their last game to take a 1-0 advantage in the Tech Challenge Cup.
"I thought that we stuck to our system tonight," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "It can be mentally difficult when you play a team that traps the way they do, but out guys didn't get frustrated. We need to make sure that we carry that mental approach into tomorrow and play a full 60 minutes."
The Warriors would control the game from the get-go, outshooting the Blue Devils 43-10 while recording their first shutout of the season.
Mike Tish put the Orange and Black on the board at the 13:31 mark in the first while
Nick Papandrea made it 2-0 Tech at the 8:09 mark in the period.
Joe Molfetta notched a power play goal at 16:18 in the second while
Ryan Attwood capped the Warrior scoring at 18:33 in the third.
John Slavik made 19 saves in net to pick up his second career shutout.
Tech (8-0-1, 4-0-0 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they conclude their weekend set with Lawrence Tech in an NAIA Division game.
