Warriors Fall to Saints in WHAC Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball concluded their season in the opening round of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) tournament with a loss to Aquinas College, 3-1, (19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-13) on Saturday afternoon at Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center.

The Warriors finished the contest with Jordan Aylward and Olivia Niekamp each posting double-digit kills with 14 and 13, respectively. Karli Jones concluded her night with 27 assists with Autumn Stokes following behind with 22 of her own. Madeline MacDonald rounded out the night with 25 digs for the Orange and Black.

Back-to-back kills from Aubree Eggers gave the Warriors an advantage early in a tight first set. After Aquinas would go on a 5-0 run, Tech would put together a comeback to knot things at 15-15. An 8-1 run from the Orange and Black would put them in control to take the 25-19 first set decision.

The Saints would utilize a 5-1 run in set number two to go ahead 6-4 early, but the Warriors would fight to push a tight contest and lock things at 14 -all. Aquinas would find themselves ahead on a Maddie Ingraham kill and would continue to stay on top to secure the 25-23 second set score.

A 6-1 run for the Saints kicked off the third set as they would jump ahead 14-7 early. Tech would answer with a 5-0 run of their own, back by kills from Courtney Mack, Calista Helinski and Aylward to come within two. Despite another late run from the Warriors, Aquinas would still come out on top in a tight set 25-20.

Up a set, the Saints capitalized on an 8-0 run to jump ahead 15-5; a lead they would grow to 20-8 before the Orange and Black set out on a 4-0 run of their own. That run would not be enough as Tech would fall 25-13 in the fourth set, providing the Saints the 3-1 match decision.

The Orange and Black conclude their season with a 14-21 record.
