FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 10-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team ran its winning streak to a modest four games on Sunday afternoon in the Schaefer Center with a 117-60 victory over Wright State – Lake in nonconference action.
Haley Cook led all scorers with 20 points while
Keanna Gary added 17 points and six rebounds.
Kendall Knapke had 15 points, four rebounds and three steals while
Isis Parker and
Jenna Szostak each chipped in 10 points off the bench. All 14 players that dressed for Tech would wind up in the scoring column.
Both teams would start off the game with turnovers issues as the two sides combined for 10 in the first five minutes of the game while the score was knotted up at 5-5 with 8:20 to go in the first. A layup from Knapke would snap a 2:11 scoring drought and start a 14-0 run for Tech over the next three minutes.
Knapke would again be the kick-starter for another run as the junior hit back-to-back three pointers to start the second quarter as the Warriors would go on a 20-4 run over the first six minutes of the period to blow the game open. An 11-0 run from the visitors would close out the half as Tech went into the locker room leading 59-23.
While the Lakers would find some offensive rhythm in the second half, scoring 37 points in the final 20 minutes of regulation, it would not be enough as the Warriors put up 58 points on the scoreboard to cruise for their second victory over Wright State – Lake this season.
Tech (13-2) concludes their home stand on Tuesday with a nonconference matchup against Great Lakes Christian College. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
