Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Warriors Top Gray Wolves in 70-55 Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) rival Lourdes, 70-55, on Saturday afternoon at the Schaefer Center.

Edmond Early, Jr. would lead all players with 15 points while Scott Schwieterman had 14 points and six rebounds. Darren Groves added 13 points and nine rebounds while Nic Williams chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds. Max Huber grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds off the bench.

Tech would get out to an 8-4 lead in the first four minutes of the game, only to see the Gray Wolves on an 8-2 run over the next two and a half minutes to take a 12-10 lead. A jumper from Early would stop the Lourdes run and kick-start a 6-0 spurt for the Warriors as they took a 16-12 lead with 9:45 to go in the first half.

The visitors would cut the deficit down to one with on their next possession, but that would be as close as they would get in the first half as the hosts would get up by as many as nine in the half, with Dylan Phair hitting a jumper right before the buzzer to give Tech a 33-24 lead at the half.

A 6-0 run by the Warriors would open up the second half as they extended their lead to 15 points with 17:13 on the clock. Back-to-back three-pointers from Lourdes would cut the deficit back down to nine, but the Orange and Black would methodically counter back with small runs before growing their lead to 20 at 59-39 with 6:38 to go in the game.

Lourdes would have one more run in them as they went on a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to 61-51 with 4:23 on the clock, but the Warriors would keep the lead in double digits as they went on to win 70-55.

Tech (10-2, 5-1 WHAC) returns to action on Thursday, December 14, as they travel to Winona Lake, Indiana for a nonconference matchup with Grace. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
