Warriors Drop Road Game to Saints

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 18-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team fell to Aquinas, 89-76, on Wednesday evening at the Sturrus Sports and Fitness Center in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play.

Miles Robinson scored a team-high 27 points while adding six assists and five rebounds in 38 minutes of action. Tanner Watkins added 10 points while Franklin Lindsey and CJ Bussey chipped in 13 and 11 points, respectively off the bench with the former grabbing a team-high eight rebounds and three steals.

The Saints would get out to a 13-7 lead seven minutes into the game thanks to a 6-0 spurt and nearly a three-minute scoring drought for the Warriors, but back-to back three-pointer from Robinson would cut the deficit to a single point with 10:40 remaining in the first half.

A pair of free throws from Lavonte Davis would tie the game up at 22 with 6:18 in the half while Robinson would hit two more triples to give the Orange and Black their first lead since the 19:28 mark. The hosts would counter right back though with a pair of three's while Jake Bullock, who scored a game-high 32 points, sank a pair of free throws to extend the Saints lead to four with 1:44 remaining in the half.

Tech would outscore the Saints 9-4 over the last 104 seconds to make it a 37-all game at the half.

An 11-5 run from the hosts, with Bullock making up nine of those points, would give Aquinas a 48-42 lead with just over two minutes gone in the second half. The Saints would extend their lead into double-digits at the 8:45 mark, but the Warriors would respond with a 10-5 spurt to make it a 70-64 game with 4:47 left on the clock.

Bullock, who would score 28 points in the second half, added a pair of three-pointers in a 14-6 run to extend the lead back up to 14 with 1:41 remaining. Bussey would hit a pair of triples in the last 46 seconds of the game, but the Saints would go 4-4 from the free throw line to stave off any threat of a Warriors comeback.

Tech (18-7, 13-4 WHAC) returns to action Saturday as they host Concordia in a 3 p.m. tipoff at the Schaefer Center.
