FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball lost its third straight game on Saturday afternoon as they fell to No. 10-ranked Davenport, 78-66, at the Schaefer Center on Senior Day in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play.
Miles Robinson led all scorers with a game-high 20 points and picked up a pair of steals.
Jantzen Goodwin added 17 points while
Scott Schwieterman picked up his fifth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
CJ Bussey chipped in seven points and
Tanner Watkins added six points and five rebounds.
Tech jumped out to an early 5-2 lead over the Panthers, but Davenport would respond with a 10-2 run to take a 12-7 lead with 15 minutes left in the first half. The visitors would hold the upper hand through the rest of the first half and used a 12-1 spurt to take a 42-23 lead into the locker room at the intermission.
The Panthers would extend their lead to 21 early in the second half, but the Warriors would begin to slowly chip away at the deficit, trailing by just 14 with 10 and a half minutes left in the game. The Orange and Black would get within striking distance of the Panthers in the final 10 minutes of the game, cutting the lead to eight at 72-64 with 1:20 to go in the game following a 7-2 run, but Davenport would respond with a 6-2 run to close out the game while holding the Warriors scoreless from the field in the last 2:38 of the game.
Tech (20-10, 15-7 WHAC) will be the number three seed in next week's WHAC Tournament and will host the sixth seed, which will either be Michigan-Dearborn, Northwestern Ohio, or Aquinas, who are all tied for fourth with matching 13-9 records in conference play, on Thursday, February 23, at 7:30 p.m. in the Schaefer Center.
