FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Casey Smith has signed an Indiana Tech Letter of Intent and will join the Warrior reserve volleyball program as a freshman for the 2017 season, head coach
Kourtney Wilson announced.
"Casey is going to be a great player for our reserve team this upcoming season," Wilson said. "She has a ton of potential to be a good setter in the future and I really think she is going to push this team to new heights this coming season."
A 5'5" setter from Johnsburg, Illinois, Smith is currently a senior at Johnsburg High School, where she played Jackie Barnett. She helped the Skyhawks to back-to-back third-place finishes in the Kishwaukee River Conference as a junior and senior while compiling 200 assists and a 94% serving percentage.
"I chose to come to Indiana Tech because I was looking for a place that felt like home even though I would be four and a half hours away," Smith said. "Indiana Tech has the homey feel I was looking for."
The daughter of Steve and Debbie Smith, she was a member of the High Honor Rill since 2011 and plans to major in Accounting at Indiana Tech. Smith was named the Food and Education Department Student of the Month this past September.
"I want to become a leader for the team and learn to keep up with the pace of the game so I can hopefully move up to the varsity team," Smith said.
