ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team dropped a doubleheader to Concordia on Sunday afternoon, falling 12-10 and 9-3, at Cardinal Field.
Tech would take advantage of three Cardinal errors to push across two runs in the first, but the hosts would come back with four runs in the second to chase starter
Maggie McCrory. An
Emily Martin single would tie the game at 4-4 in the third to drive in
Lauren Ohnesorge and
Madison Ohnesorge.
Concordia would retake the lead in the fourth with three runs on five hits and extend the lead to 10-6 in the sixth with a three-run homer. The Orange and Black would rally in the top of the seventh however, to tie the game at 10. A leadoff double from
Hannah Foltz would get the ball rolling while a walk and four singles to push across the four runs.
A hit-batsman to start off the bottom of the seven would prove ominous, as the Cardinals would win on a walk-off two run homer to take game one, 12-10.
Brianna Glass would get the Warriors on the board in game two with a single in the second while she came around to score four batters later to give Tech a 2-1 lead.
A wild pitch and grand slam in the bottom of the inning though, would give the Cardinals a 6-2 lead while they added three more runs in the sixth to cruise to the 9-3 win and the sweep.
Tech (4-35-1, 1-15 WHAC) returns to action Monday with a tripleheader at Madonna University. The Warriors will first take on Lawrence Tech in their makeup doubleheader before facing off with the Crusaders in the final game of their doubleheader afterwards.
