Warriors Drop Final Three Conference Games

LIVONIA, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team concluded its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) slate on Monday afternoon as they dropped a trio of makeup games, falling to Lawrence Tech, 8-0 (F/6), and 3-2, before dropping a 1-0 decision in nine innings to Madonna at University Field.

In a makeup date from April 11, the Blue Devils would jump over the Warriors to start their second tripleheader in two days as they scored three runs in the second inning. Alina Molette would drive in two runs with a single before adding two more RBI's to her totals in the fourth inning with a double.

LTU would extend their lead to 8-0 in the sixth inning while Alexa Cherney would scatter six hits over six innings to shutout the Warriors for the win.
'
The designated visiting team on the scoreboard would get ahead quickly in game two as well as they scored in the first and the third, but the Warriors would tie the game in the fourth thanks to three Blue Devil errors and a double from Emily Martin.

A one-out triple from Bailey Brown would set the table for Lawrence Tech in the sixth though as she came around to score on a safety squeeze from Molette to give the Blue Devils a 3-2 lead while they would allow just one Tech base runner over the next two innings to complete the sweep.

The third and final game of the day for the Orange and Black would be the second game of their doubleheader with Madonna, which was rained out back on April 5. Tori Simper would throw her best game of the season as she limited the two-best team in the WHAC to just five hits over eight-plus innings of work.

The Warriors would have runners 90 feet away from home plate four different times, but the Crusader duo of Madisen Henry and Paige Montague would combine to shutout Tech for their 10th shutout of the season.

A leadoff single from Morgan Kaiser would put the hosts in action in the bottom of the ninth and would promptly steal second. A strikeout and pop out to second though would give the visitors two outs in the inning, but Bri Giordano would rip a double to left center on a 1-1 count to give the Crusaders the walk-off victory.

Tech (4-38-1, 1-18 WHAC) will return to action Saturday as they start a four-game nonconference trip to Northwest Indiana, taking on Calumet College of St. Joseph Saturday before finishing the season at Purdue University Northwest on Sunday. First pitch Saturday is set for 3 p.m. EDT from Whiting Sports Complex.
