Tech Knocks Off Number Three Blue Devils in Road Win

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The No. 6-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team knocked off its second top-five team in a week as they defeated No. 3-ranked Lawrence Tech, 19-16, on Wednesday afternoon at the LTU Athletic Field in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play.

Chandler Peterson would put the Warriors on the scoreboard at the 13:45 mark in the first quarter to take the early lead, but the Blue Devils would respond with the equalizer just 41 seconds later and go up 2-1 at the 11:49 mark in the period.

Jace Childs tie the game up at 2-2 with 6:57 left in the first and sparked a 5-0 spurt from the visitors, with NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week Will McKinney scoring the next three goals over the next four and a half minutes Childs would cap the run with his second goal of the afternoon at the 2:16 mark to put Tech up 6-2.

Noah Puckett would then get in on the scoring with hat trick of his own in the second quarter, scoring all three in a five minute stretch as Tech extended its lead to 13-7 at the half.

The Blue Devils would not go down lightly though, using a 6-0 spurt over eight minutes to cut the deficit to 14-13 with 1:41 left in the third, with the hosts scoring three man-up goals and two man-down goals in the run. Childs would stop the run with two more goals at the 13:41 and 11:52 mark in the fourth though, giving the Warriors a 16-13 advantage heading into the home stretch.

LTU would cut the lead to two goals twice in the final 10 minutes, but Childs would be there to put the visitors back up three goals as he finished with a game-high seven scores, while Peterson notched his fourth of the game with 4:21 left to seal the win for Coach Bryan Seaman and the Warriors.

McKinney would add five goals and six ground balls to Tech's totals, while Lee Raymond collected a team-high nine ground balls. Puckett would tally four assists along with the hat trick and Ryan Nutter caused three turnovers. Joe Dosen made 15 saves in net for the win.
