WYOMING, Mich. – The No. 18-ranked Indiana Tech baseball reached the 40-win mark on Wednesday afternoon as they swept Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) rival Aquinas, 13-5 and 5-0, at Kimble Field.
The Warriors jumped out early on the Saints by scoring 10 runs in the first three innings, with
Keith Tatum starting things off with a double to right center to score
Dante Biagini to make it 1-0. Biagini would then drive in two runs with a double of his own in the second while
Glen McClain made with a 7-0 game with a two-RBI single.
Charlie Sipe would continue his power surge by hitting his fourth home run in two games with a three run shot to right on the first pitch of the at-bat to make it 10-0 Tech.
That would plenty of offense for starter
Jason Sterrett, who picked up his fourth win of the season by allowing just one run in five innings of work while scattering six hits. Biagini would go 4-5 with three RBI's while Sipe drove in four of his own.
Tighe Koehring jumped on the doubles train in the top of the first in game two as he drove in Sipe and
Keith Tatum to give the Warriors an early 2-0 lead while
Chris Gaynor drove in
David Barksdale and Tatum with a single up the middle. Sipe added to his home run total with a drive to right to increase his team lead to 12 for the season as the visitors went up 5-0.
Alex Delk would cruise through six innings on the mound, allowing just four hits while striking out four for the abbreviated complete game as the contest was called after six innings due to darkness.
Tech (40-10, 24-6) concludes the regular season Thursday with a single nine-inning game against Aquinas. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Kimble Field.
