Cochran’s Hat Trick Leads Warriors Past Bears

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team rebounded from a tough 1-0 loss on Thursday with a dominating 10-1 win over Shawnee State on Saturday afternoon at the Shawnee Turf Field.

It's the most goals in a game for the Warriors since October 21, 2015, when they scored eight against Concordia in a shutout.

Brennan Cochran gave Tech the lead in the 17th minute before adding his second goal of the afternoon just five minutes later as the Warriors went ahead 2-0. The Bears would answer with a goal in the 30th minute, but the Orange and Black respond with three more goals to end the half, including another one from Cochran, to give the visitors a 5-1 lead at the break.

It is the second time in his career that Cochran has recorded a hat trick, with the first coming on September 9, 2015 against Taylor, which was also the last time any Tech player had at least three goals in a game.

The offensive explosion would continue into the second half as the Warriors tacked on five more goals, with Fabian Kauffman, Daniel Gallardo and Malte Dennert each scoring their first of the season, with Dennert scoring twice in the final 45 minutes.

Ruben Leonardo would be credited with a game-high three assists while adding a goal of his own. Richard Doll dished out a pair of assists and Edwin Rosado made two saves while picking up the win.

Tech (4-2) concludes its nonconference slate on Tuesday, September 19 as they end their three-game road trip against Goshen. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from the Goshen College Soccer Complex.
