Tech Completes Season Sweep of Siena Heights with 74-63 Win

ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team won its fourth game in a row on Saturday evening as they defeated Siena Heights, 74-63, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play at the SHU Fieldhouse.

Joel Wincowski scored a team-high 19 points while Darren Groves added 17 points and nine rebounds. Scott Schwieterman chipped in 14 points and six rebounds while Nic Williams grabbed nine rebounds and had eight points.

The Saints would take an early 5-0 lead in the first 90 seconds of the game and increased their lead to as many as eight at the 14:14 mark in the first half as they led 16-8. An 18-4 run from the Warriors, including a 10-0 spurt to cap it, would give them a 26-20 lead at the 9:12 mark in the half.

Siena Heights would tie it back up at 26-26 with a 6-0 run, but an 8-0 spurt from the visitors would give them the lead back at 34-26. Three good free throws and a triple from Wincowski would put Tech up 40-33 with 92 seconds left in the half and headed into the locker room up 40-36.

The Orange and Black would start the second half on fire as they used another 8-0 spurt to extend their lead to 12 points just two and a half minutes in and causing the Saints to call a timeout. The quick start would propel them to keep a double-digit advantage for the rest of the game as they extended their lead to as many as 16 points in the half and held the Saints to just 27 points in the final 20 minutes of action.

Siena Heights would cut the deficit down to 11 with 4:09 to go in the game, but the Warriors would score five quick points to eliminate the threat of the comeback while they held the hosts scoreless for almost three minutes to end the game.

Tech (18-3, 10-1 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they battle Madonna in Livonia, Michigan. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. from the Activities Center.
