FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team fell to ACHA Division I No. 5-ranked Robert Morris (Ill.), 5-1, on Saturday evening at the SportONE/Parkview Ice House.
"Our guys played with better pace today, but it boils down to capitalizing on chances," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "They did and we didn't."
Despite outshooting the Eagles 17-12 in the first period, Tech would find themselves trailing 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Felix Kronwall would cut the deficit in half at the 16:38 mark in the second with his first goal of the season, but Robert Morris would respond with their third goal of the night four minutes later to regain their two-goal advantage.
The visitors would tack on two more goals in the first five minutes of the third period to hand the Warriors their first season sweep of the season.
John Slavik made 34 saves in net while
Mike Tish netted the assist on Kronwall's goal.
Tech (16-3-1) returns to action next Friday as they host Western Michigan in their first game of the I-69 Cup. Puck drop is set for 8:30 p.m. from the SportONE/Parkview Ice House.
