HOWELL, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's soccer team defeated Cleary University, 6-4, on Wednesday afternoon at Lake Trust Stadium in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC). With the win, the Warriors secured a WHAC Tournament quarterfinal contest on November 3.
Erick Turner put the Warriors on the board in the 19
th minute with his 12
th goal of the season while
Richard Doll knocked in his fourth of the year four minutes later to make it a 2-0 contest. The Cougars cut the deficit down to 2-1 in the 32
nd minute, but
Malte Dennert converted a free kick in the 37
th minute to restore the two-goal advantage.
Dennert added two more goals in the 54
th and 59
th minute to increase Tech's lead to 5-1 while Ruben Leonard made it a 6-1 match in the 64
th minute. Cleary made a late charge as they scored three times in the final 12 minutes of action to make it a 6-4 game, but the Orange and Black came away with the three points.
Edwin Rosado made two saves in net to pick up the win while Doll had two assists.
Tech (12-4-1, 8-1-1 WHAC) concludes the regular season Saturday as they host the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
