FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team picked up its second straight sweep Friday night as they defeated Rochester College, 25-17, 25-18, 25-22, inside the Schaefer Center in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.
Tech jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first set with
Jordan Aylward collecting three kills during a 6-0 run for the hosts. The Orange and Black built their lead to 12-4 while a 5-0 run put the hosts up 22-14 before taking the first set 25-17.
The Warriors found themselves down 6-4 to begin the second, but a 4-0 spurt put them ahead 12-9, with
Aubree Eggers recording the last two points via blocks. Another 4-0 run made it 16-10 Tech while the Orange and Black tacked on another 4-0 spurt to go up 20-11. Rochester cut the deficit down to 23-18, but Tech closed out the set with two quick points to go up 2-0 in the match.
Tech took a 13-7 thanks to a 6-0 run, but Rochester cut the deficit down to 14-13 and eventually tied the set up a 19-19. The two sides traded the next six points and with the set tied up at 22-22, the Warriors won the next three points to complete the sweep.
Olivia Niekamp and Aylward both had a match-high 13 kills while
Aubree Eggers had 11 kills and hit a match-high .529.
Autumn Stokes dished out 25 assists while
Madeline MacDonald had 20 digs.
Tech (19-13, 9-9) WHAC concludes their home slate Saturday with a matchup against Lawrence Tech on Senior Day. First serve is set for 1 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
