Warriors Fall to Pilots

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball fell to No. 23-ranked Bethel College, 83-69, on Tuesday evening at the Wiekamp Athletics Center.
 
Darren Groves led the Warriors with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds while Dilyn Good had 14 points and five rebounds. Dylan Phair added 10 points to round out Tech's leaders.
 
The Warriors got out to a 9-4 lead to begin the game, but an 8-0 run from the Pilots gave them a 12-9 lead at the 13:50 mark of the first half. The two sides would trade the lead over the rest of the half with the hosts closing the period with a 4-0 run to take a 38-33 lead into the locker room.
 
The Pilots grew their lead to 51-43 within the first six minutes of the second half, but a 9-0 run by the Orange and Black cut the deficit back down to four points at 56-52 with 11:26 to play. The hosts began to take control of the game after a timeout at the mark, growing their lead to up to 70-60 with 6:36 to play in the game.
 
Bethel held the advantage for the rest of the game while clamping down on the Warrior offense, limiting them to just three field goals over the last five and a half minutes of the game.
 
Tech (0-2) returns to action Friday as they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the Cornerstone University Classic, where their first opponent will be the University of Saint Francis (Ind.). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. from Mol Arena.
