FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 3-seeded Indiana Tech men's soccer team fell to No. 4-seeded Lawrence Tech, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament Championship at Warrior Athletic Field.
The Blue Devils got on the scoreboard early as Nico Rodriguez-Berme found the back of the net eight minutes into the contest. The Warriors had a pair of chances to score the equalizer in the first half with shots from
Malte Dennert and
Ruben Leonardo, but LTU keeper Max Jewett kept Tech off the scoreboard.
Lawrence Tech got another goal right before the half to extend their lead to 2-0 while they tacked on their third goal of the game in the 58
th minute. Tech had a chance to get cut the deficit to 3-1 with a penalty kick kin the 68
th minute, but
Brennan Cochran's attempt was stopped by Jewett.
Ivan Safranic made one save in the game while
Edwin Rosado took the loss.
Tech (15-5-1) will now wait to see if they will receive an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship, with the field for the 60
th annual event announced Monday.
