FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team defeated Cincinnati Christian, 88-66, on Saturday afternoon inside the Schaefer Center in nonconference action.
Kendall Knapke led both teams with a game-high 25 points on 9-14 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds.
Alexis Hill notched her first career double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds while
Isis Parker had 13 points off the bench.
Bella Lozano-Dobbs and
DeAnn Kauffman rounded out Tech's leaders with 10 points each, with the former dishing out six assists.
After four and a half minutes of play the two teams were all knotted up at 7-7, but a 10-3 run from the Warriors put them up 17-10 with 2:47 to play in the first quarter. Tech continued to hold the advantage until the 8:45 mark in the second as the Eagles knotted the game up at 20-20 following a 6-0 run. Cincinnati Christian took a 22-21 lead at the 8:16 mark in the quarter, but an 8-0 run sparked by five straight points from Parker, put the hosts back up 29-22 while the ended the half leading 40-34.
The Warriors extended their lead to 46-34 following a 6-0 run to start the third quarter, but a 7-0 spurt from the visitors cut the deficit down to five points. Leading 60-50 at the start of the fourth, the Orange and Black started to show pull away with a 17-2 run that put them up 80-56 with 3:58 to go while winning their third straight game with the 88-66 win.
Tech (4-1) returns to action Wednesday as they start Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play on the road against the University of Northwestern Ohio. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. from Racer Gymnasium.
