FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated Rochester College, 104-93, on Saturday afternoon in the Schaefer Center in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.
Logan Primerano led all scorers with a season-high 29 points and went 7-12 from three-point range and collected eight rebounds.
Dylan Phair added 19 points, five rebounds and two steals while
Joel Wincowski chipped in 16 points, five rebounds, seven assists and four steals.
Edmond Early, Jr. poured in 11 points and five assists off the bench while
Darren Groves notched his fifth straight double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The two teams were on fire from all over the floor from the opening tip, with Tech shooting 54.4% from the floor and 53.3% from the three-point line while Rochester shot 55.9% and 69.0%, respectively.
The Orange and Black started the game on a 5-0 run, with Wincowski scoring all five points. Rochester came back to tie the game up at 17-17 at the 13:19 mark following back-to-back three-pointers from Khalil Gracey. The two sides traded leads over the next four minutes, but an 11-2 run from the hosts, including three three-pointers from Primerano, but them up 31-24. Tech grew the lead up to 11 points and took a 54-44 lead into the locker room at the half.
The second half continued the shootout from the first, as both team shot over 56% from the field and over 63% from downtown in the final 20 minutes of action. Tech extended their lead to 13 points at 73-60 with 13:20 to play in the game, but Rochester battled back to make it an 83-80 game with 8 minutes to play. The Warriors countered with a 7-0 run to grow the lead back up to 10 and never let it get down under five for the rest of the game as they won 104-93.
Tech (4-4, 2-0 WHAC) returns to action Tuesday against Concordia University (Mich.). Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
