FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team defeated Concordia University (Mich.), 86-52, on Tuesday evening in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action inside the Schaefer Center for their sixth straight win
Kendall Knapke notched her first double-double of the season with 25 points and 10 rebounds while
Alexis Hill added 14 points and six rebounds.
Jenna Szostak chipped in 12 points off the bench while
Bella Lozano-Dobbs had nine points and 10 assists.
Back-to-back baskets in the paint by the Warriors and a pair of Cardinal turnovers forced the visitors to call a timeout just 74 seconds into the game. A 15-0 following the first Concordia basket, highlighted by three three-pointers from Knapke, put the Orange and Black up 19-2 at the 3:28 mark in the first and the rout was on.
Tech started the second quarter on a 11-3 spurt to extend their advantage to 34-13 with 6:13 to play in the period before taking a 47-24 lead into the locker room at the half following an and-one play from Lozano-Dobbs with two seconds left in the half.
The Warriors continued to showcase their offensive proficiency in the second half as they shot 53.4% from the floor and 45.5% from the three-point line and built their lead up to 35 points. Their defensive prowess was just as much as on display as well as they held CUAA to just 29.4% shooting from the floor and 8.3% from behind the arc while forcing 11 turnovers.
Tech (7-1, 3-0 WHAC) steps out of conference play on Saturday as they make the short trip across downtown Fort Wayne to take on the University of Saint Francis. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. from the Hutzell Athletic Center.
