WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech wrestling team opened their 2018-19 season on Saturday as they traveled to the University of the Cumberlands for the Patriot Open inside the Rollins Center.
Josue Hill led the Warriors with a fourth-place finish at 184-lbs. as the sophomore went 4-2 on the day and picking up a pair of major decisions and a pin. Competing unattached,
Kolby Ferris also finished in fourth in the 174-lbs. division and also went 4-2 in the opening tournament of the season.
Oscar Martinez went 4-2 on the day at 197-lbs. with three falls,
Hunter Gasper went 5-2 at 165-lbs. and
Nate Weimer went 6-2 at 165-lbs. As an unattached wrester,
Myles Ruffin went 5-2 at 285-lbs.
Tech returns to action next Saturday with a split-squad day. The Warriors will be competing at the Grand View (Iowa) Open and the Trine Open. Meet times are set for 10 and 9:30 a.m. from Southeast Polk High School and the Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center, respectively.
