Warriors Throttle Racers for 17th Straight Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 7-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team won its 17th consecutive game on Saturday afternoon as they defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH), 91-55, at the Schaefer Center on Senior Day.

Tech claimed a share of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) regular season title as they improved to 17-1 in conference play.

Keanna Gary notched her nation-leading 20th double-double of the season with a career-high 30 points and 15 rebounds while Haley Cook passed 1,600 career points at Tech with 22. DeAnn Kauffman added 12 points off the bench while Kendall Knapke chipped in 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals.

The first quarter saw three ties and four lead changes in a back-and-forth affair to start the game. Tech used a 7-0 run to take a 13-9 lead at the 5:20 mark, only to see the Racers take an 18-17 lead with 1:45 left in the quarter while Danielle VanDyne hit a three-pointer with five seconds to go to make it a 21-21 game at the break.

Back-to-back fast break baskets from Gary would kick start a 15-5 spurt for the hosts as they took a 40-30 lead into the locker room at the half before the Warriors exploded for a 37-11 third quarter performance to put the game out of reach. The Orange and Black used a 32-6 run, capped by a 14-0 and back-to-back-to-back triples, to close the quarter out with a 77-41 lead.

The Warriors grew their advantage to as many as 38 points in the final quarter of play as extended the longest win streak in program history.

Tech (26-2, 17-1 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they host No. 19-ranked Lawrence Tech in a battle for the outright WHAC title in their final regular season game at home. The contest will also serve as the team's "Think Pink" game. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
