Warriors Cruise Past Cardinals, Claim Fourth Straight Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Tech women's lacrosse fans who braved the cold, rainy northeastern Indiana weather Tuesday evening had plenty to cheer about as their No. 6-ranked Warriors routed Concordia University, 19-2, at Warrior Athletic Field to notch their fourth consecutive victory.

The Orange and Black wasted little time taking command of the conference affair as senior attacker Sarah Bates buried the home side's first strike just 18 seconds into the half. Following the game's opening salvo, six different Warriors would string together 10 successive goals before Concordia's Nina Pantich answered with the Cardinals' lone goal of the half. The sophomore duo of attacker Cassie Mullins and defender Mackenzie Barnes would each beat the visiting netminder to close the first half, providing the Warriors with a 13-1 cushion headed into the intermission.

Tech would keep the offense rolling in the second frame as Bates unloaded her second and third strikes of the match within three minutes of the opening draw. Four other Warriors would find the scoresheet in the second half, including junior Bailey Childs, senior Kristina Scott, and Mullins who each capped off multi-goal efforts.

The scoring outburst produced many offensive highlights for head coach Jason Allen's squad, which included 10 different Warriors registering a goal in the contest. Scott would lead the way with four tallies in the matchup while Childs and Bates each provided three. Meanwhile, senior Sam Vikstrom posted team-bests with 10 draw controls, six caused turnovers, six ground balls, and two assists. Junior goaltender Sydney Davis would garner the win in net after making three saves in nearly 40 minutes of playing time.

Indiana Tech (9-2, 2-0 WHAC) returns to action when they host the Illinois Institute of Technology on Thursday evening at Warrior Athletic Field. Opening draw for the nonconference competition is set for 5 p.m. The Warriors will re-enter WHAC play Saturday, April 7 with a trip to Madonna for a 12 p.m. start.
