Warriors Rout Scarlet Hawks for Fifth Straight Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 6-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated Illinois Tech, 24-3, on Thursday afternoon in a nonconference matchup at Warrior Athletic Field.
 
Jennifer Banks kicked off the scoring just 26 seconds into the game for her first of three goals while the Warriors jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first five minutes of action. The Scarlet Hawks got on the scoreboard at the 24:04 mark to make it a 4-1 game, only to see the Orange and Black rattle off five more goals to extend their advantage to 9-1.
 
A pair of goals from the visitors cut the deficit down to 10-3 with 13:09 to play before the half, but the hosts found the back of the cage six more times before the end of the first 30 minutes of play to take a 16-3 lead into the locker room. Tech added eight more goals in the final half of play while holding Illinois Tech off the scoreboard and limiting them to just two shots on goal.
 
Kristina Scott led all players with five goals while Bailey Childs and Sam Vikstrom notched four goals each. Childs added four assists for a team-best eight points and grabbed 10 draw controls while Vikstrom picked up seven ground balls and caused six turnovers while collecting six draws. Sydney Davis notched her ninth win of the season after making two saves in 34 minutes of action.
 
Tech (10-2) returns to action on Saturday as they return to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action with a visit to Madonna. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m. from the Madonna Soccer and Lacrosse Field at the Madonna Athletic Complex.
