LIVONIA, Mich. – The Indiana Tech softball team fell to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Madonna in a doubleheader on Monday afternoon at University Field, losing game one, 10-0, in five innings and game two, 8-1.
The Crusaders used a six-run third inning to take a 7-0 over the Warriors, using six hits, four hit batters, three walks and an error to blow the game open. Madonna scored twice more in the fourth to get to the eight-run mercy rule threshold as they took game one, 10-0.
Marta Pasqualini took the loss after allowing three runs, all earned, on four hits in two innings of work.
Bailey Dembinski went 2-3 with a double while
Madison Ohnesorge went 2-2 at the dish.
Madonna jumped out to another early lead in the first following a double and a sacrifice fly, but
Nicolle Sierra cut the deficit in half with a single to center to score
Caitlyn Walter. The hosts, who were the visitors on the scoreboard, knocked in single runs in the second, third and sixth, but closed the door on the Warriors in the seventh as they knocked in three more runs without a hit to complete the sweep of the Orange and Black.
Kirsten Wolf took the loss after allowing eight runs in six innings of work. Walter went 2-4 at the dish.
Tech (3-25, 1-5 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they host Rochester in their home opener. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. from Havenhurst Park in New Haven, Indiana.
