SYLVANIA, Ohio – The No. 6-seeded Indiana Tech softball team saw its season come to a close on Friday as they were eliminated from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament at Pacesetter Park, falling to No. 2-seeded Aquinas, 5-4, in the winner's bracket, and No. 5-seeded Lawrence Tech, 8-1, in an elimination game.
The Warrior struck first against Aquinas with a solo shot from
Lauren Ohnesorge in the fourth inning on a full count, but the WHAC regular season co-champions scored in the next three innings to take a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh. Tech would not go down quietly as
Ali LeNoue brought the Orange and Black to within a run with a three-run blast to left and just one out in the inning, but the Saints got the final two outs to send the Warriors into the loser's bracket.
Amanda Shonka took the loss after going all seven innings in the circle, scattering 12 hits while striking out four batters.
Lawrence Tech jumped all over the Warriors in top of the first as they scored three runs off three hits and an error before taking advantage of four errors by the Orange and Black in the sixth to push across five more runs and take an 8-0 lead.
Emily Martin knocked in LeNoue with a sacrifice fly out in the bottom of the sixth, but it was not enough as the Blue Devils knocked out the Warriors with the 8-1 victory.
Tech finishes the season with a record of 15-34.
