MARION, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team fell to in-state rival Indiana Wesleyan in their 2018-19 fall opener Wednesday, 8-1, at the Sutter Tennis Center.
Brunno Storani picked up the lone win of the day for the Warriors with a 7-5, 6-7, 10-6 victory at first flight. Three other Warriors split sets in singles play against the No. 23-ranked team to end the 2017-18 season as
Rui Lima (6-7, 7-5, 15-17),
Alvaro Garrido (6-3, 3-6, 10-2) and
Pablo Bono (6-3, 2-6, 4-10) all fell in three sets.
All three doubles flights would fall by four points or fewer, with the first and second flight of
Tiago Neves/
Alvaro Gomez and Lima/Garrido both falling 8-5.
Tech (0-1) returns to action Thursday as they make the short trip west on U.S. 30 to take on Grace College. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m. from the Miller Field Tennis Courts.
