JUDSON, Ill. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team needed extra time but picked up its first win of the season Saturday afternoon as they defeated Judson University, 2-1, in double overtime at Dawson Field.
Kayla Saffran was the difference maker for the Warriors as the sophomore netted both goals on the day. She scored her first in the 12
th minute to knot the match up at 1-1 before finding the back of the net in the 108
th minute to break the tie and give Tech the overtime victory. Classmate
Lily Rothert was the catalyst on both goals that came off of corner kicks.
Ally Zenda made seven saves in goal to pick up her first collegiate win while Saffran,
Bailey Elliott and
Molly Ames each recorded two shots on goal.
Tech (1-2-0) returns to action Wednesday, September 5, as they conclude a three-game road trip at Marian University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from St. Vincent Field.
