FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 25-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated Lawrence Tech, 70-57, on Saturday afternoon inside the Schaefer Center in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.
Dylan Phair and
Max Huber each scored a team-best 15 points with the former adding four rebounds and four assists while the latter went 6-8 from the floor and grabbed five rebounds.
Logan Primerano and
Lucas Lehrman each added 10 points with the former collecting seven rebounds and the latter going 5-6 from the field and recording two blocks.
Josh Kline added nine points, seven rebounds and two blocks off the bench.
The Warriors raced out to a 13-4 over the first seven minutes of the game to set the tone with Phair and Primerano each scoring four points in the run. A triple from Phair made it an 18-10 game with 10:40 to play in the first half and force the Blue Devils to call a timeout. Tech extended their lead to 26-12 with 7:52 to play in the half and cause the visitors to use another timeout. The Orange and Black were in control the rest of the period as they closed out the half on a 13-4 run to take a 39-20 lead into the locker room.
The hosts continued to build their lead early in the second half as a triple from Huber made it a 23-point game and caused the visitors to use another timeout with 16:34 left on the clock. LTU responded with a 9-4 spurt to make it a 53-35 game with 12:03 to play, but a fast break dunk from Kline brought the Schaefer Center crowd to its feet to put Tech up 60-42 at the 8:10 mark as Lawrence Tech used another timeout to try and stop the onslaught. The Warriors continued to hold off the Blue Devils for the rest of the game as the lead never slipped below 13 points as Tech won its second straight game.
Tech (14-9, 10-3 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday, January 23 as they host the University of Northwestern Ohio. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. from the Schaefer Center. The game will serve as the team's Suit and Sneakers Game as a part of Coaches vs. Cancer.
