Warriors Cut Down by Hot-Shooting Wolverines

DEARBORN, Mich. – The No. 13-ranked Indiana Tech men's basketball team fell to the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 84-69, on Saturday afternoon inside the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.

Dylan Phair scored a game-high 24 points while adding three rebounds and three assists. Josh Kline scored 14 points on 6-7 shooting off the bench and grabbed six rebounds. Max Huber added eight points, four rebounds and four assists while Mitch Morken grabbed a team-best seven rebounds to go along with three points.

Tech jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first minute of the game, but the Wolverines countered with 10 straight points to take the lead and never looked back as they led the rest of the game at the 17:37 mark. The Warriors got within two points twice over the next two minutes of play, but a 15-5 run from the hosts, with all of their points coming from behind the three-point line, put them ahead 27-15 with 9:32 to play in the half. UM-Dearborn would extend their lead to as many as 22 points in the first half while hitting nine triples in the opening 20 minutes to take a 43-29 lead at the half.

Phair attempted to keep the Warriors in the game with 19 points (7-11 FG) in the second half, but it would not be enough as the Wolverines kept up their hot shooting and led by as many as 25 points to knock off the Orange and Black.

Tech (11-8, 7-2 WHAC) returns to action Wednesday as they host Siena Heights University in a WHAC matchup. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
