FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 18-ranked Indiana Tech men's ice hockey team defeated No. 4-ranked University of Michigan-Dearborn, 3-2, on Saturday evening in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play inside the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse.
"We stuck with out game plan even through adversity there in the third period," head coach
Frank DiCristofaro said. "I was happy to see our defenseman get involved in the offense and happy to see our power play break through. Lindy held strong and kept us in the game, especially early on in the pirst period when we were short handed. Overall, I was pleased with our play today."
Alex Potter was the hero of the game as the scored the game-winner with 32 seconds left in regulation and also tallied an assist on Tech's first goal of the night.
Bryson Linenburg made 16 saves to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Warriors scored twice on the power play while their penalty kill did not allow a goal in three chances.
The Wolverines found themselves on the man-advantage twice in the first five minutes of the game, but were not able to convert as Tech's defense did not allow a single shot on goal during the four minutes of the power plays.

Adam Vannelli found the back of the net with 18:17 to play in the second on the power play while
Nick Papandrea also converted a power play opportunity with 6:56 to go in the period. UM-Dearborn showed their mental toughness though, scoring twice in a 31 seconds span in the third period to knot the game up at 2-2.
Tech got a huge chance to break the tie with a five-minute major penalty taken by the Wolverines with 13:01 to play in regulation, but the Warriors were unable to get one past reigning WHAC Defensive Player of the Week Thomas Proudluck. Potter eventually netted the game-winner as he got a rebound following a shot from
Nick Trefry that was saved and put it past Proudluck and the hosts held off the six-man offense of the defending WHAC Champions over the last 25 seconds on the game to avenge their loss to UM-Dearborn Friday.
Tech (5-2-0, 3-1-0 WHAC) returns to action Friday as they head to Lawrence Technological University for a home-and-home series. Puck drop is set for 8:15 p.m. from the Farmington Hills Ice Arena.
