Warriors Winning Streak Ends at Siena Heights

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's basketball team found itself on the wrong end of a 79-75 score to No. 22-ranked Siena Heights University on Saturday afternoon inside the SHU Fieldhouse in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) contest between the league's top-two teams.

Alexis Hill had a game-high 22 points with six rebounds and two assists while DeAnn Kauffman added 18 points and four steals. Emma Wolfe had 17 points and five rebounds while Kyra Whitaker chipped in 12 points. Rachel Bell dished out seven assists.

The battle between the last two undefeated teams in conference play did not disappoint with six lead changes, but neither side was able to take more than an eight-point lead in the final WHAC game of the semester. Leading 55-52 at the end of the third quarter, the Warriors went on a 7-2 run to begin the fourth, with Kauffman converting a fast-break opportunity at the 7:23 mark to put Tech up 62-54 with 7:23 left in the game.

A 9-2 run from the Saints however, cut the visitors lead down to just a point with 4:39 to play. Kauffman responded with a layup to put the Warriors back up three, but Siena Heights went on a 7-0 spurt to take a 70-66 lead with 2:49 left on the clock. The hosts grew their advantage up to seven points with 96 left in regulation, but Tech came storming back with a 6-1 run to make cut the deficit to 75-73 with 47 seconds to play. The Orange and Black would only score two more points though, with their lone basket coming with four seconds left in the game, while the Saints went 4-6 from the free throw line to ice the game and take sole possession of first place in the WHAC.

Tech (8-2, 5-1 WHAC) returns to action on Friday, December 13 as they host in-state foe and No. 3-ranked Marian University. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
