BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Indiana Tech men's indoor track and field team kicked off the 2019 NAIA Indoor National Championships on Thursday evening at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex on the campus of South Dakota State University with solid performances in the prelims of three events.
Cayce Griffin qualified for the finals of the 5,000 meters with a seventh-place performance and a time of 15:02.49 while the 4x400m relay of Desire Akpoli,
Theo White,
Gairy Springer and
Qadir Muhammad ran a season-best 3:11.81 to take the top seed for Saturday's finals.
The distance medley relay of
Dillan Cerny, Chale McLeod, Justin Flemming and
Kudzanai Karawira finished ninth with a time of 10:21.73 and just 13-tenths of a second out of qualifying for the finals.
Tech continues action at the NAIA National Championships at Friday. Action is set to begin at 1 p.m. EST from the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
