GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team returned to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Cornerstone University, 5-1, inside the Grand Rapids Racquet Club.
Tech came out of doubles play with a 2-1 lead thanks to wins at first and third flight.
Brunno Storani and
Tiago Neves pulled out the 9-8 (8-6) win at the former while
Alvaro Gomez and
Andres Leal won 8-2 at the latter. The second flight of
Rui Lima and
Alvaro Garrido fell in a hard-fought 9-7 decision.
The Warriors clinched the match with victories from Garrido, Lima and
Pablo Bono at fourth, fifth and sixth flight, respectively, as the trio only dropped seven sets among them.
Tech (8-9, 2-1 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday, March 23 with another trip to Grand Rapids to take on Aquinas College. First serve is set for 12 p.m. from MVP Sportsplex.
