LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 19-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team fell to No. 4-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College, 10-5, on Friday evening at the Grizzly Baseball Complex.
Glen McClain gave Tech the lead in the first as he drove home
Jacob Alvidrez with an RBI single, but the Grizzlies tied the game up at 1-1 in the second. Georgia Gwinnett tacked on six more runs in the third after McClain had homered in the top of the inning to give the Warriors a short-lived lead, as the hosts took advantage of two Tech errors and knocked out five hits, including a grand slam, to take a 7-2 lead.
GGC added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to stretch their lead to 9-2, but the Orange and Black capitalized on a pair of errors in the eighth to cut the deficit to 9-5. The Grizzles limited the damage though and added another run in the bottom of the frame as they took the series opener.
McClain and
Kyle Harvey each finished with two hits while Alvridez drew two walks.
Tech (12-7) returns to action on Saturday as they conclude their spring break trip against Georgia Gwinnett with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. from the Grizzly Baseball Complex.
