BRIGHTON, Mich. – The No. 3-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn, 24-9, on Wednesday evening inside the Legacy Center to win its fifth straight game.
The Wolverines struck first just 51 seconds into the game, but the Warriors responded with four straight goals over the next seven minutes to take a 4-1 lead, with
Justin Hindman scoring twice. Tech continued to dominate in the second quarter as they outscored the hosts 5-3, with all five of their goals coming in a five minute stretch as they took a 11-6 lead into the half.
Six more goals from the Orange and Black put the game out of reach in the third as the visitors defense stiffened up and allowed just one goal in the first 15 minutes out of the intermission.
Noah Puckett scored twice in the third while
Chandler Peterson had a pair of goals in the fourth as the Warriors scored seven more times in the fourth to notch the conference win.
Peterson finished with a career-high six goals and eight assists for 14 points, while Puckett, Hindman and
Ian Tyburski all had four goals.
Andrew Neller won 24 face-offs and picked up 14 ground balls while
Evan Schuster made nine saves in the cage.
Tech (7-1, 2-0 WHAC) steps out of conference action on Saturday as they host Ottawa University. Opening faceoff is set for 5 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
