FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team ended a three-game home stand Wednesday evening with a 17-6 victory over Madonna University at Warrior Athletic Field.
The Crusaders struck first in the contest with just under five minutes gone off the clock, but
McKenna Mesclier answered back at the 24:43 mark to start a 4-0 run for the Warriors. Madonna battled back to make it a 5-4 game with 7:18 left in the first half, but Tech responded with four straight goals, including two by
Jennifer Banks in the last 90 seconds of the half, to take a 9-4 lead into the intermission.
The Orange and Black began to hit their stride in the second half as they outscored the visitors 8-2, with Mesclier and Banks each scoring three goals in the final 30 minutes of the game. The former started a 5-0 run for the hosts while the latter capped the spurt with her fifth goal of the game at the 10:28 mark.
Banks finished with a career-high six goals while Mesclier had four goals and six draws.
Bailey Childs had eight draws and two caused turnovers while
Sydney Davis made 11 saves in the cage.
Tech (4-2, 2-0 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday as they travel to Siena Heights University for a WHAC showdown. Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. from O'Laughlin Stadium.
