Tech Completes Comeback over Saints with Second Half Surge

ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 5-ranked Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated Siena Heights, 15-13, on Saturday afternoon inside O'Laughlin Stadium in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.

The Warriors got out to a 2-1 lead in the first five minutes of the game, but the Saints responded with three goals in a minute and a half span to make it a 4-2 game. The two sides continued to trade goals over the rest of the half, with Tech getting within a goal at 6-5 and 7-6 thanks to goals from Cassie Mullins and Jennifer Banks, but the Saints took an 8-6 lead into the locker room at the half.

Siena Heights pushed their lead to 9-6 just 17 seconds into the second half, but Abby Barkdull scored three straight goals over the next three minutes to tie the game up at 9-9, while Bailey Childs tacked on the next two scores to give the Orange and Black an 11-9 lead with 21:40 to go. Tech extended its lead to 13-9 with three more goals to give them an 8-0 scoring run with 14:37 to go in the game.

The Saints would not go down without a fight though, scoring three times in the final eight minutes of the contest to bring the hosts within two, but the Warriors hung tough to remain perfect in conference action.

Barkdull finished with a game-high five goals while Childs scored four times and added two assists and four draw controls. Banks, Mullins and Mesclier each grabbed four ground balls while Sydney Davis made 12 saves in the cage.

Tech (5-2, 3-0 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Bethel College for a conference matchup. Opening draw is set for 6 p.m. from Morey Field.
