DEARBORN, Mich. – The No. 2-seeded Indiana Tech men's hockey team defeated No. 3-seeded Aquinas, 7-1, on Saturday evening in the semifinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament inside the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena. The win extends the Warriors winning streak to 24 straight games.
The Warriors struck first at the 8:27 mark as
Joel Holmberg found the back of the net, but the Saints tied up four minutes later. Holmberg notched his second goal of the game at the 2:42 mark of the period to restore Tech's lead while the Orange and Black tacked on three more goals in the second to take a 5-1 lead.
Holmberg notched the hat trick with 14:36 left in the game while
Francesco Corona recorded four assists.
Bryson Linenburg made 32 saves to improve to 15-0 on the season.
Tech (29-3-0) returns to action on Sunday as they take on No. 1-seeded University of Michigan-Dearborn in the WHAC Tournament Championship. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. form the UM-Dearborn Ice Arena.
