FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team fell to Indiana University Kokomo in seven innings, 13-2, on Tuesday evening at Warrior Field.
The Cougars took advantage of three Tech errors in the first to score twice while they added a pair of runs in the second off a two-run homer. The visitors tacked on six more runs in the fourth as they took advantage of a three-run shot and two more Warrior errors to increase their lead to 8-0.
The hosts took advantage of four walks in the bottom of the frame to push across their first run of the game while a 5-3 putout from
Jacob Alvidrez resulted in the second Tech run. IU Kokomo kept the bats rolling in the seventh though as they used a triple and a double to push across three more runs to make it a 13-2 game.
The contest was called in the middle of the eighth inning due to the home plate umpire taking a foul ball of the head, so all stats resorted back to the seventh and the 10-run mercy rule.
Tech (22-13) returns to action on Wednesday as they host regional rival Grace College. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. from Warrior Field.
